Druse Agate Stone Bead Pendant
This Brazilian Agate Drusy bead pendant is polished all the way around and drilled with a 3 mm hole side to side near the top. It can be strung on a wire or cord or incorporated into your own bead creation! It is 54 mm (almost 2.25 inches) long by 23 mm at its widest and about 12 mm thick.
The term Druse is used in the gem and jewelry industry to literally mean covered by tiny crystals. The most common is quartz crystals on agate, but many minerals also fall in this category. Often the crystal layer will be the same color as the mineral below, for instance in the lovely blue of Drusy Chrysocolla. Druse comes in many colors and is found around the world. Most of the time the crystals are very sparkly. The word Druse is also sometimes spelled Druzy, or Drusy.
Agate is a member of the chalcedony family, or a microcrystalline quartz, and it has a hardness of about 7 on the Moh's scale. The name is derived from its occurrence at the Achates River in southwestern Sicily.
Metaphysical Properties: In general Agates are said to be stabilizing and strengthening. They improve memory and increase energy.
Cabochons are stones cut for jewelry and are measured in mm. One inch is equal to about 25 mm. 13 mm is only about 1/2 inch.
