Deschutes Jasper Designer Cabochon
This beautiful designer oval Deschutes Jasper cabochon is 44 mm by 32 mm and 5 mm thick.
A great piece of brown, scenic, porcelain Deschutes Jasper from Oregon. Jasper is an opaque form of Chalcedony.
The Deschutes Jasper deposit is west of the famous Biggs Jasper deposit and Biggs Junction. It is a small open pit, up on a hill above the highway and east of the mouth of the Deschutes river. It is no longer available to dig, due to being included in the property of a park that is a few hundred yards away at the mouth of the Deschutes river.
Cabochons are stones cut for jewelry and are measured in mm. One inch is equal to about 25 mm. 13 mm is only about 1/2 inch.
