Optically clear Quartz rock crystal from Brazil. Absolutely gorgeous-this one looks like ice!

Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on earth.  It is found on every continent, and just about every country.  It has a hardness of 7.  Quartz occurs in many formations, both massive and crystals. 

Quartz has long been the subject of spiritual beliefs and folklore.  Crystal balls brought back by the Crusaders where believed to possess magical powers.  In fact, the name crystal comes from the Greek word for "ice", as it was believed that rock crystal was eternally frozen. 

Optically clear does not mean it has no inclusions.  It means that the crystal is not milky or cloudy at all.  This great point is small-2.25 inches tall, more than .75 inch deep and almost 1.25 inches wide.  It has 6 sides.  It weighs 60 grams.  It only has some very tiny spot inclusions!
