Australian Tiger Iron Decorator Rock 50 mm or 2 inch Sphere

This is a beautiful, brown, flashy gold and metallic black Tiger Iron sphere from Australia.

Tiger Iron consists of Hematite, and Tiger's Eye and sometimes has Red Jasper. Tiger Iron is a great example of a metamorphosed gemstone: More than 2 billion years ago, deposits of these three materials were slowly mashed together as tectonic plates shifted. The tremendous pressures on the original crystals resulted in the intricate, banded designs of Tiger Iron. Each stone can be seen distinctly in layers of gold, silver, brown and red, drawing unique vertical and horizontal patterns. While the stone is many millennia old, it only recently has become known on the market.

This lovely sphere is 51 mm or 2 inches in diameter. This one is pretty clean and exceptionally nice! It does have a crescent natural crack near one tip, but it isn't distracting at all.
