Malachite is a copper carbonate. It has a hardness between 3.5 and 4. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses. This is a natural stalagtite! This material is found in the oxidation zone of major copper deposits. This stone's name is from the Greek, malache, - "mallow" in reference to its green leaf color. This stalagtite has been drilled and has a brass rod inserted. It is mounted on a lucite square for display. The stalagtite is 3 inches long by about .5 inch wide. It is natural "rough" and sparkly! Metaphysical Properties: Malachite is a very protective stone, being especially helpful for general protection, protection from evil, protection during pregnancy and childbirth, and protection for children.
