Selenite Stone Hand Carved Animal Frog Bullfrog Rock

These beautiful hand carved frog is so cute! It is carved from orange Selenite from the Ural Mountains in Russia.

Selenite is a form of Gypsum, which is one of the more common minerals in sedimentary environments. It is a major rock forming mineral that produces massive beds, usually from precipitation out of highly saline waters. Since it forms easily from saline water, gypsum can have many inclusions of other minerals and even trapped bubbles of air and water.

Selenite shows a pearl like luster and has been described as having a moon like glow. The word selenite comes from the greek for Moon and means moon rock.

The Frog is about 2 inches long by 1.75 inch wide and 1.5 inches tall. I have 11 of these-due to hand carving and natural materials they may vary slightly from the picture. But they are all very similar and very cute!
