Stone Animal Carving Black Horse Pony Necklace Hematite Henatite is a silvery, shiny opaque black gemstone that almost looks like metal. It was used in seals as early as 2500 B.C. Roman warriors used it as protection during battles, and Native Americans used it to make red face paint. Until recently cosmetic blush contained ground hematite. Hematite gets its name from the Greek Haimo for "blood", because of the color of its powder (hence the red streak it leaves). Native Americans believe the horse fetish symbolizes swiftness, strength, and enlightenment. They also believe it possesses healing powers. Custom hand carved into a small pendant, 1.25 inches long by 1 inch tall and .25 inch thick. It is drilled on its head, and strung on a cloth cord that is adjustable to hang at any length you want up to 13 inches. I have 3 of these that are similar-but each one is hand carved and unique! You may not get the one pictured-I will choose for you! E-mail a friend about this item. | |||||||||||||||
