Tiny Snowflake Obsidian Buddha Carved Carving Stone Odsidian is a natural volcanic glass. This glassy, lustrous mineral is found in lava flows. Obsidian is produced when lava cools very quickly. The lava cools so quickly that no crystals can form. In some Obsidian, the inclusion of small, white, radially clustered crystals of cristobalite in the black glass produce a blotchy or snowflake pattern (hence the name: snowflake obsidian). Obsidian was important to many ancient cultures. It was one of the major barter materials, and has been used since prehistoric times for making tools, masks, weapons, mirrors and jewelry. Obsidian was named after a Roman-Obsius. Metaphysical Properties: Legends say it provides strength in times of need. Those these are Snowflake Obsidian they only have one "snowflake" each-both on there left cheek! These small custom hand carved buddhas are about 1 inch tall (26 mm), almost 1 inch wide and more than .5 inch thick. Due to the natural material and hand carving each one is unique. I have 2 of these-I will choose for you! Siddh?rtha Gautama was a spiritual teacher from ancient India and the founder of Buddhism. He is generally recognized by Buddhists as the Supreme Buddha. The time of his birth and death are uncertain, the majority of scholars with opinions gave dates within 20 years either side of 400 BCE for the Buddha's death. According to tradition, the Buddha emphasized ethics and correct understanding. He questioned the average person's notions of divinity and salvation. He stated that gods are subjected to karma themselves; and the Buddha is solely a guide and teacher for the sentient beings who must tread the path of Nirvana themselves to attain the spiritual awakening called bodhi and see truth and reality as it is. The Buddhist system of insight and meditation practice is not believed to have been revealed divinely, but by the understanding of the true nature of the mind, which must be discovered by personally treading a spiritual path guided by the Buddha's teachings. The buddha carving is a symbol of happiness, wealth, prosperity, kindness, innocence and joy. It is believed that rubbing his tummy will bring you good luck!
