Nautilaus Shell 5 inch Stone Bear Southwest Fetish Rock

Sparkling irridescent white Nautilaus Seashell, from the Philippines, covers this stone bear!

This is very time intensive as each mosiac piece is glued to the stone bear and then the shell pieces are hit with a hammer to create a crackling effect. The bear is then sealed to hold it together and make it shine!

Hand crafted bear is 5 inches long, 3.5 inches high, and more than 1 inch thick. I have 5 of these, very similar-I will pick for you.

This is modeled after the Zuni Fetish Bear - among Native American people the bear is regarded as a symbol of strength. Often small carved bears, called fetishes, are carried by Native Americans for protection. This is not actually carved by a Zuni artist.
