Australian Tiger Iron Decorator Rock 87 mm or 3.5 inch Sphere

This material is highly reflective so the picture was taken with a flash to offset that. The red is more muted. This is a beautiful red, flashy gold and metallic black Tiger Iron sphere from Australia.

Tiger Iron consists of Red Jasper, Hematite, and Tiger's Eye. Tiger Iron is a great example of a metamorphosed gemstone: More than 2 billion years ago, deposits of these three materials were slowly mashed together as tectonic plates shifted. The tremendous pressures on the original crystals resulted in the intricate, banded designs of Tiger Iron. Each stone can be seen distinctly in layers of gold, silver, brown and red, drawing unique vertical and horizontal patterns. While the stone is many millennia old, it only recently has become known on the market.

This lovely sphere is 3.5 inches in diameter. This one is pretty clean and exceptionally nice! It does have a surface fracture line, but it also has lots of yellow flash. It weighs about 3 lbs.
