Small Blue & Gold Tiger's Eye 1 lb Polished Tumbled Rock Stone Tigereye Tigereye (or Tiger's eye) is a quartz, usually with rich yellow and brown stripes, but also can be red or blue. It is so named for its chatoyant cat's eye effect. This material is from Africa. It contains oriented fibers of crocidolite that have been replaced by silica. The fibers are twisted or crumpled instead of straight, reminiscent of sand and sunlight. Tigereye is also vitreous (hard, unbendable and glasslike). This tigereye is heat-treated to a dark, midnight blue. Roman soldiers reportedly wore tigereye for protection in battle, and the stone was thought to be all-seeing due to its ocular appearance. However, tigereye made its gemstone debut sometime in the late 19th century. It was much more valuable back then than today, fetching several dollars per carat. These are a mix of blue and gold-but mostly blue. The other listing I have is for all blue. This listing is for 1 lb mixed lot of small tumbled stones. The picture is for sample purposes only-you will not receive these exact stones. You will recieve a 1 pound bag of similar stones. There are about 400 pcs in a 1 lb bag and they are .25 to .75 inch in size. These are great for all kinds of crafts and decorator purposes! Metaphysical properties: Tiger's Eye is said to be a stone of protection that is also very grounding. It enhances integrity, willpower, practicality and correct use of power. It is a stone that enhances good luck, and brings prosperity, often in the form of money. Tiger's eye is also a very protective stone, and is especially protective during travel.
