ONE Natural Ammoite Morocco Fossil Rock Stone This Ammonite lived in the Devonian Period about 360 million years ago and the fossil was found in Atlas Mountains, Morrocco. Ammonites are an extinct group of marine animals of the subclassAmmonoidea, in the class Cephalopoda, phylum Mollusca. Ammonites were first called Ammon's Stones because of their resemblance to the ram's horns of Ammon, the ancient God of Life and Procreation. The term fossil refers to any preserved remains or imprint of a living organism (usually ancient), such as a bone, shell, footprint, or leaf impression. The fossil is custom cut into a sorta circle or oval and "roughly" polished on top, ground but not polished on the bottom or edges. Each one is unique. They are all around 2 inches long or in diameter and about .5 inch thick. These are Grade #B as the fossils are not too sharp, or off to the side, or there may be flaws on the surface. This listing is for one and I will choose for you! Great as a collector piece or can be worked into jewelry. E-mail a friend about this item. | |||||||||||||||
