African Green Malachite Handcrafted Stone Cube

Lovely! A handcrafted Malachite stone slightly more than 1.5 inch or 41 mm cube! The material came from the Katanga Mine area in the Congo, Africa.

Malachite is a copper carbonate. It has a hardness between 3.5 and 4. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses. This material is found in the oxidation zone of major copper deposits.

This stone's name is from the Greek, malache, - "mallow" in reference to its green leaf color. The pattern is beautiful!
