Mahogany Obsidian Gemstone Stone Rough Rock for Cabbing A deep black with blood red streaks. Odsidian is a natural volcanic glass. This glassy, lustrous mineral is found in lava flows. Obsidian is produced when lava cools very quickly. The lava cools so quickly that no crystals can form. The red coloration is likely the result of trapped hematite. Obsidian was named after a Roman-Obsius. It is called mahogany because the reddish brown color is similar to the wood-mahogany. This nice very thick slab is sliced on both sides, rough around the edges. It is 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches and 1.25 thick. It is shown wet in the first picture (highly reflective!). It weighs 1.60 lbs. Metaphysical Properties: Obsidian is said to be a very grounding stone, and very healing. It is said to dispel feelings of unworthiness, that can hold one back from achieving their full potential. It sharpens and focuses internal and external vision, and helps get in touch with buried issues before they can explode.
