Laguna Agate Stone Gemstone Designer Cabochon Beautiful Laguna Agate from Mexico. Laguna Agate comes from Northern Mexico and is well known for its vibrant colors of reds! The Laguna Agate area is about 150 miles south of the U.S.-Mexican border. It is found in several sites on the mountain covering a distance of over 4 miles. Agate is a member of the chalcedony family, or a microcrystalline quartz, and it has a hardness of about 7 on the Moh's scale. The name is derived from its occurrence at the Achates River in southwestern Sicily. Metaphysical properties: In general Agates are said to be stabilizing and strengthening. They improve memory and increase energy. In many traditions agate is believed to cure the stings of scorpions and the bites of snakes, soothe the mind, prevent contagion, quiet thunder and lightning, secure the favor of the powerful, and bring victory over enemies. The cab is custom cut into an oval shape, with the creative jeweler in mind. It is 31 mm by 14 mm and 5 mm thick. Shipping terms: I am always happy to combine shipping.
