Orbicular Ocean Jasper Rough Rock Chunk Stone

Lovely orbicular Ocean Jasper from Madagascar. Jasper is a type of quartz belonging to the chalcedony family.

This variety is silicified rhyolite flow from off the northwest coast of Madagascar. It can only be seen and collected at low tide. The area has no road, so the material must be transported to civilization by boat.

This type of Jasper was so named because it is resembalance of foam as it recedes back into the ocean, with its wavy patterns of green-gray, white, cream, beige, brown, pink and marooon. This piece even has the iridescent white circles of sea spray.

Metaphysical Properties: Ocean Jasper is believed to teach responsibility and patience, as well as aid in regulating breathing for meditation.

These 2 thin endcuts are sliced on one side and shown wet in the first picture. One piece is about 5 inches long by 2.25 inches wide, and the piece is 5 to 22 mm at its thickest. The other piece is 3.5 inches by about 2 inches and 6 to 17 mm thick. Together they weigh .56 lb.
