Jasper Stone Large Cabochon

This is a lovely Red Plume Jasper. Unfortunately I do not know its origin or if it has a specific name. If anybody recognizes it, I appreciate any input!

Jasper is from the chalcedony/quartz group. It is a microcrystalline variety of quartz that contains up to 20% foreign material. These materials are what determine the color and appearance of the stone. Also because of the foreign materials, jasper is rarely uniform in color, it is usually multicolored, striped, and/or spotted.

This lovely large oval cabochon is 63.5 mm (2.5 inches) long by 38 mm (1.5 inches) and 5.5 mm thick.

Metaphysical properties: Red Jasper is called a stone of fairness and justice because mystical lore claims that it decreases unjustness and helps in unfair situations. It is also said to enhance responsibility, choice, and compassion. Used in mystical dreamwork, it can enhance dream recall. It is said to assist in protection and rescue from danger. Metaphysically, it is purported to have a stabilizing effect, and help one take all one's energy and use it in a balanced manner. It is also said to be a stone that helps in all areas of survival, and is a very protective stone.
