Bear Yellow Star Fossil Coral Carving Decorator Rock Yellow Star Fossil Coral comes from the Philippines and is named for the pretty sprays in its pattern. Thamnastrea lived during the Mesozoic era and formed large reefs along with other corals. The sediments deposited on the reef and held together between corals was rich in calcite and often oolitic. This bear is hand crafted and 5 inches long, 3.75 inches high, and almost 1 inch thick. It weighs just over 1 lb. This is modeled after the Zuni Fetish Bear - among Native American people the bear is regarded as a symbol of strength. Often small carved bears, called fetishes, are carried by Native Americans for protection. This is not actually carved by a Zuni artist. Shipping terms: I am always happy to combine shipping.
