Snowflake Obsidian Gemstone Animal Hand Carved Cat Kitty Odsidian is a natural volcanic glass. This glassy, lustrous mineral is found in lava flows. Obsidian is produced when lava cools very quickly. The lava cools so quickly that no crystals can form. In some Obsidian, the inclusion of small, white, radially clustered crystals of cristobalite in the black glass produce a blotchy or snowflake pattern (hence the name: snowflake obsidian). Obsidian was important to many ancient cultures. It was one of the major barter materials, and has been used since prehistoric times for making tools, masks, weapons, mirrors and jewelry. Obsidian was named after a Roman-Obsius. Metaphysical Properties: Legends say it provides strength in times of need. This hand carved cat is curled up in a ball and is almost 2 inches in diameter by 1 inch thick. The tail and face are carved on one end. There are some surface pits in the stone. The Cat is a symbol for feminine energy, agility in body and spirit, and is believed to keep the wearer safe in travel. This animal is resourceful, strong and fearless. Use a cat figure to increase courage and confidence. In ancient Egypt the cat was an object of worship. In Ancient Greece and Rome, the cat was attributed to the goddess of liberty, and it was sacred to the goddess of the moon. A cat saved Mohammed from the serpent, and it is thus revered in Moslem cultures. Shipping terms: I am always happy to combine shipping.
