Large Chrysocolla Malachite 4 inch Stone Sphere Rock

This hand cut sphere is a mixture of blue Chrysocolla, and green Malachite, in a gray matrix. The material comes from the Bagdad Copper Mine in Arizona and was found in 1991. The mine is still operating, but no longer producing the right oxide zones for this material!

This one is a wonderful sphere at 4 inches in diameter! It has some tiny natural pits and some larger natural vugs or pockets-but the crystals inside are dirty and weathered.

Chrysocolla is known as a healing stone among Native American Indian cultures where it was used for strengthening the body's resistance and bringing about calm feelings where there is upset.

Chrysocolla is named from the Greek chrysos - "gold" and kolla - "glue" in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold. Malachite is is named for the Greek word for "mallow", a green herb.
