Rhodonite Rough Rock Slab for Cabbing

Beautiful pink Rhodonite from Madagascar!

This stone gets its name from the Greek word for its rose color.  It is a manganese metasilicate with a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5.  The black dendritic inclusions are maganese oxide.

Rhodonite was once used to make service platters in Russia and was often given as a gift during royal czarist weddings.

 One side is shown wet, the other is shown dry.  This lovely light pink slab weighs .4 lbs.  It is 6 inches long by 3 inches at its widest and slightly slanted from 8-9 mm thick.   #2
