Galena

Galena is the natural mineral form of lead sulfide. Of the three minerals that are commercial sources of lead, Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulfide mineral. Crystals of Galena form in cubes.

Argentiferous Galena is Galena that contains natural silver. Traes of silver are almost always present in Galena. Argentiferous Galenas have long been the most important ore of silver in mining.

Galena has been found throughout the world. The greatest concentration is found around Flat River in southeastern Missouri.
