Hematite
Hematite was used in seals as early as 2500 B.C. Roman warriors used it as protection during battles, and Native Americans used it to make red face paint. Until recently cosmetic blush contained ground hematite. Hematite gets its name from the Greek aima meaning "blood", because of the color of its powder (hence the red streak it leaves). The red color of the ruby, garnet, spinel an dthe pink on calcite are due to traces of Hematite. The belief in the magical properties of the rocks and minerals is not new. Belief in the supernatural properties of rocks and minerals bringing peace, wellness and protection goes back beyond recorded history. There are ancient legends that trace rocks, minerals and crystals back to the creation of the Earth and the Universe. Most of my metaphysical information is taken from The Book of Stones-Who They Are and What They Teach, with permission from its co-author, Mr. Robert Simmons. Metaphysically Hematite is said to inspire inner peace. Many believe it aids in clarity, balance, and calm reason, thus making it a grounding stone. It is said to assist in creating peaceful, loving, and kind relationships. It also enhances memory and intellect! OakRocks has been in the rock and mineral business for 30 years. We are a great source for Hematite and other rocks and minerals. | ||||||||
