Lepidolite

LepidoliteLepidolite is an uncommon mica that only in the past decade has become available on the mineral market. This gemstone is a by-product of the mining of lithium and owes its color to lithium's proximity. Its color is violet to pale pink or white. It often contains black markings. Lepidolite comes from the Stewart Mine in Pala, California. But it has also been found in Africa, Brazil, and Greenland. It occurs in masses, mostly in granites.

The name Lepidolite is from the Greek word lepidos, meaning scale, because lepidolite normally appears scaly. Occassionally Lepidolite is found embedded with pink Tourmaline crystals. It has a hardness of 2.5 to 3.

Metaphysical Properties: Lepidolite is most effective in calming frayed nerves, helping one to release stress and worry, and setting one on the path of willing acceptance.

OakRocks has been in the rock and mineral business for 30 years. We are a great source for Lepidolite and carry a selection of rough rock slabs, Lepidolite eggs, and spheres and lovely carved animals.
