Tiger Eye Rough Rock Slab Stone Africa for Cabbing
Lovely flashy gold semi precious stone Tiger Eye from Africa.
This is an endcut, meaning it is slabbed on one face, rough rock on the back. It actually stands nice if you want to polish the face and use it for a display piece!
The rough rock cabbing piece is 5 inches by 3 inches and 1.5 inches at its thickest. Shown wet in the first picture. It weighs .66 lbs.
Tigereye (or Tiger's eye)is a quartz usually with rich yellow and brown stripes, but can be red or blue.
It contains oriented fibers of crocidolite that have been replaced by silica. The fibers are twisted or crumpled instead of straight, reminiscent of sand and sunlight. Tigereye is also vitreous (hard, unbendable and glasslike). With its strong chatoyance, the gemstone gets its name from its resemblance to the eye of a tiger.
