Bear Figurine Serpentine Augite Carved Animal
This smaller hand carved Serpentine and Augite gemstone bear figurine is 3.4 inches long by 2.4 inches tall and .8 inch wide.
This apple green/yellow Serpentine mixed with gray Augite is a metamorphic rock. It was formed when water from magmas metamorphosed previous igneous or sedimentary rocks.
The material is from Arizona and the bear was made in the U.S.A.
Serpentine is said to owe its name either to its serpent-like colors and patterns or from an old belief that the stones were effective protection from snake bites.
This material is known metaphysically as Devalite. Devalite is named after the Deva spirits of nature.
Metaphysical Properties of Devalite: Devalite is said to have a strong connection with nature and resonates with those that love nature. Devalite is said to encourage enthusiasm for life, kindness and truthfulness.
The bear is the symbol of maternal protection, as well as strength, courage, power and honor. A bear fetish is believed to lighten emotional burdens. Many civilizations have myths regarding bears, from the Greeks and the Celts to the Ainu of northern Japan and the tribes of North America.
This is carved in the shape of the traditional Zuni fetish bear, but it was not carved by a Zuni artist.
