Product Description
A beautiful natural brown Brazilian Agate Drusy sphere 40 mm or 1.5 inch in diameter.
This material is found in Brazil, which has some of the world's largest agate deposits.
Agate is a form of Chalcedony, or a microcrystalline quartz. Many agates are hollow, since deposition did not fill the cavity, and in such cases the last deposit commonly consists of quartz crystals directed towards the free space so as to form a crystal-lined cavity, or geode.
The name Agate is derived from its occurrence at the Achates River in southwestern Sicily.
The term Druse is used in the gem and jewelry industry to literally mean covered by tiny crystals.
The most common is quartz crystals on agate, but many minerals also fall in this category. Often the crystal layer will be the same color as the mineral below, for instance in the lovely blue of Drusy Chrysocolla. Druse comes in many colors and is found around the world. Most of the time the crystals are very sparkly.
The word Druse is also sometimes spelled Druzy, or Drusy.
Metaphysical Properties: In general agates are said to be stabilizing and strengthening. They are said to improve memory and increase energy.
