Laguna Agate Polished Collector Rock
A small but beautiful yellow banded Laguna Agate geode cut in half and polished on one face, left natural on the back and sides.
This polished agate collector stone is 2.75 inches long by 1.6 inches wide and 1 inch at its thickest.
It sits at a nice slant for display or could be re-cut into cabochons.
It does have natural fractures-please look at the pictures carefully.
The Laguna Agate area is in the Estacion Ojo Laguna area in the state of Chihuahua, about 150 miles south of the U.S.-Mexican border.
Agate is a member of the chalcedony family, or a microcrystalline quartz, and Laguna Agate cabochons have a hardness of about 7 on the Moh's scale.
No gemstone is more creatively striped by nature than agate, chalcedony quartz that forms in concentric layers in a wide variety of colors and textures. Each individual agate forms by filling a cavity in host rock. As a result, agate often is found as a round nodule, with concentric bands like the rings of a tree trunk.
Metaphysical Properties: In general Agates are said to be stabilizing and strengthening. They improve memory and increase energy.
