Noreena Jasper is a pretty material that comes from Pilbara region of Western Australia, some 700 miles north of the capital, Perth. It sports a "flame" pattern with red, yellow, and orange flames in a gray matrix. This material is known for its healed fracture lines.
Jasper is from the chalcedony/quartz group. It is a microcrystalline variety of quartz that contains up to 20% foreign material. These materials are what determine the color and appearance of the stone.
Noreena Jasper is a silicified pelite (mudstone) and is believed to be 2765-2687 million years old.
