Almandine is an iron aluminum garnet, of deep red color, inclining to purple.
The name Almandine came from the town of Almandine in Asia Minor.
This is a large natural raw crystal found in Orissa, in northern India.
It can be collected as a natural crystal, mineral specimen, or cut into opaque cabochons.
