Carnelian Agate Rough Rock Lapidary Natural Orange Gemstone
This lovely orange gemstone Carnelian Agate rough lapidary rock is 3.9 inches by 3 inches and from 1 to 1.25 inch thick.
The color is natural, untreated, and it weighs .54 lbs. and is NOT shown wet.
This lovely piece came from an old collection and was self collected in Oregon in the 1940's or 50's.
Also spelled Cornelian, Carnelian is the only member of the translucent chalcedony family with its own name!
The name is derived from the Latin word meaning flesh, in reference to the flesh color sometimes exhibited.
Agate is defined by its translucency (ability to see light through it), and by its clearly defined pattern or banding of multiple colors.
This lovely all natural orange colored agate comes from Madagascar.
