Chevron Amethyst Stone Slab Purple Gemstone Rough Rock
This lovely unpolished purple and white Chevron Amethyst gemstone slab is 2 inches by 1.8 inches and 5 to 7.5 mm thick.
It weighs .06 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 4 pictures.
This material is called Chevron Amethyst for its lovely chevron pattern of white Quartz and purple Amethyst.
It is a natural crystal from Zambia.
The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek and means "not drunken." This was maybe due to a belief that amethyst would ward off the effects of alcohol, but most likely the Greeks were referring to the almost wine-like color of some stones that they may have encountered.
Amethyst can occur as massive, as long prismatic crystals that have a six-sided pyramid at either end or can form as druses that are crystalline crusts that only show the pointed terminations.
Amethyst is the birth stone for February.
