Jaspillite (also spelled Jaspilite, or called Itabirite or Jasper Taconite) is a banded mixture of iron rich metallic Hematite or Magnetite and Red Jasper. Jaspilite is found in the Iron Ranges of Michigan, particularly in the Marquette Iron Range near Negaunee. It is associated with one of the earliest forms of life as it's formation took place during Earth’s formation 4 billion years ago, and the iron oxide bands are believed to have been influenced by the oxygen production of ancient cyanobacteria.
Jaspillite can also be found in igneous and metamorphic rocks as young as 500 millions years old.
Metaphysical Properties of Jaspillite: Jaspillite is said to be good for grounding your energies and emotions, while soothing your thoughts and ideas.
