Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper Polished Rock
This is Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper from the area of the Guadalupe Reservoir in Morgan Hill, California.
This piece stands up and is 4.5 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide and 1.25 inches thick.
It is polished on one edge and side, slabbed and grounded on the other sides-but not polished.
It came from an old collection, self-collected in the 40's or 50's and I think maybe it was suppose to be a bookend?? It has great pattern and could be recut into cabochons!
Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper has red and yellow orbs or "flower poppies", hence the name Poppy Jasper.
It comes from Morgan Hill, California near the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
This area is known for tectonic plate movement and this semiprecious gemstone lapidary material usually has fracture lines-both healed and unhealed.
