This lovely rare agate known as Owls Hole Agate is sliced and polished on one face, natural rough on the back and it does stand on its own on one edge.
The polished collector agate is 4.8 inches by 2.6 inches and about 1/3 inch thick, but almost 1 inch at is thickest.
The Owls Hole Agate comes from Owlshead Mountain near Baker in Death Valley, California. The area has been a part of Death Valley National Park for decades and therefore off limits for collecting.
Owls Hole Agate is known for its sagenite inclusions. Sagenites are blades or needle inclusions and often form in sprays. This lovely natural rock material has golden, white, black and lavender sagenites.
