Product Description
Petrified Wood Polished Round Endcut Rock
This lovely piece of Petrified Wood is an endcut, slabbed and polished on one face and natural rough on the back.
It is almost a full round "bark" all the way around, except for one small broken area-upper left first picture.
It also has a small fill-4th picture-yellow area.
It is 4.4 inches long by 4 inches wide and about 1 inch thick.
This came from an old collection, self-collected in the western United States (most likely Washington or Oregon) sometime in the 40's to 70's and unfortunately it was not labeled, so its origin is unknown. If any petrified wood experts know-please let me know!!
Petrified Wood is wood that has fossilized; a tree died and was buried by sediments, minerals in the groundwater then permeated the wood replacing it and making a stone-like replica of the original wood.
