Spenser Opal Unpolished Stone CHIPS Iridescent Small Rock 

This listing is for one bag weighing 10 grams of very tiny unpolished stone chips of natural rough Spenser Opal. 
 
The pictures represent some of the bags, each is different and we will choose for you.  
 
These are very small in size. They are sold for decoration, planters, metaphysical use, intarsia or inlay, and/or crafts only. You may be able to cut a very small cab or 2, but that is not guaranteed.
 
In the right lighting these pieces do have small iridescent flashes of color.  It can be hard too see and the camera doesn't capture it at all.
 
This lovely gemstone material is from the Spencer Opal Mine, the largest privately owned gemstone producer in the State.

Idaho is nicknamed “The Gem State” for the abundance of rare minerals that have been found in all corners of the state and Opal is the second largest contributor to the total value of gemstone material produced.

At the Spencer Opal Mine the precious opal occurs as one or more thin layers within common opal partially filling gas cavities within a rhyolite-obsidian flow. Only about 10% of the material is thick enough to cut into solid gems, the remainder is fashioned into doublets and triplets. The Spencer Mine is the source of pink common opal and pink precious opal. Opal is brittle, heat sensitive, and breaks and scratches easily.

The name Opal comes from the Latin word opalus which means "precious stone" and Opal is considered a precious gemstone.

Metaphysical Properties of white precious Opal: Opal is believed to assist one in becoming more positive and loving.
