Youngite Rough Rock Fluorescent Mineral Specimen Wyoming
This natural rough rock Youngite is 4.72 inches by 3.22 inches and 2.5 inches at its thickest.
It weighs 1.44 lbs.
Beautiful and rare Youngite from Guernsey, Platte County, Wyoming
Youngite is a brecciated reddish-brown to peach jasper that was then re-healed by deposition of cream-colored chalcedony. Often some of or the entire rock is then covered by druse quartz crystals. It was found in caves and voids near Guernsey, but the Youngite caves are located on private property, and have been off-limits to collectors for years.
Youngite is also highly fluorescent under shortwave Ultra Violet (SWUV) lighting. It glows a bright neon green color. The fluorescent response of Youngite is highly variable, with some specimens showing spectacular fluorescence, and others being only dimly fluorescent.
