Actinolite Crystal Natural Mineral Specimen Green Rock California
Highly lustrous, blue-green lathes in parallel-growth and in radiating clusters comprise this fine specimen of solid actinolite. This is very rare material from a less known location.
This amphibole derives its green coloration from the presence of lead in its chemical composition.
Actinolite was named in 1794 by Richard Kirwan from the Greek "aktina" for "ray" and "lithos" for "stone" in allusion to it's fibrous nature.
A variety of actinolite, nephrite, is one of the two minerals called jade. Another gem variety is the chatoyant form known as cat's-eye actinolite. This stone is translucent to opaque, and green to yellowish green color.
Metaphysical Properties of Actinolite: Actinolite is a powerful heart stone that provides one’s emotional body with protection from negative energies that cause one to feel sadness or anxiety.
