This beautiful unpolished mineral specimen of Chrysocolla Malachite with a natural sparkly blue Drusy Chrysocolla coating is 4.4 inches wide by 2.2 inches tall and 2.45 inches thick.
The crystals covers just 1.3 inches but is a lovely deep turquoise blue and very sparkly.
It sits and displays well.
Druse (pronounced drew-zee and most often spelled drusy or druzy) is a trade name for a natural surface texture of fine quartz crystals that sparkle.
The drusy reflects the color of the stone below.
Chrysocolla is a copper silicate and is found in the copper oxide zones of major copper deposits. It is usually found with other copper ores, most commonly Malachite.
This natural mineral specimen came from the Bagdad Copper Mine in Arizona.
The name Chrysocolla first appears in the writings of Theophrastus (315 BC). Chrysocolla is named from the Greek chrysos - "gold" and kolla - "glue" in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold.
