This is a partial but well defined fossil seed fern (Alethopteris sp.) from the Pennsylvanian aged Tonganoxie Sandstone of Ottawa, Kansas.
Alethopteris is an extinct genus of seed fern that reproduced from seed as opposed to sporophyte reproduction of most modern ferns.
