Product Description
Tiger-eye or Tiger's Eye Rough Rock Lapidary for Cabbing
Lovely yellow flashy unpolished thick stone endcut (slabbed one side-rough on the back) of Tiger's Eye or Tiger Eye from Africa.
This lapidary rough rock is 6.5 inches by 2 inches and 1 inch at its thickest.
This unpolished Tiger-eye slab weighs .90 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 3 pictures.
Tiger's Eye is a quartz usually with rich yellow and brown stripes, but can be red or blue.
It contains oriented fibers of crocidolite that have been replaced by silica. The fibers are twisted or crumpled instead of straight, reminiscent of sand and sunlight.
Tiger-eye is also vitreous (hard, unbendable and glass-like). With its strong chatoyance, the gemstone gets its name from its resemblance to the eye of a tiger.
