Dendritic Agate
Dendritic Agates have very thin tree-like inclusions of iron, manganese, or other metallic oxides that grow in natural fractures.
These inclusions called dendrites were named after the Greek word “Dendron” which means tree.
Most often they are in clear or milky agate or quartz and the dendrites are black, red or brown. The black is usually from manganese oxides and the red and brown come from iron oxides.
Moss inclusions are generally more mossy shaped, and plume inclusions are more solid and flower shaped.
