Jin Chan or Golden Toad Labradorite Stone Carving
This Labradorite stone Jin Chan or Golden toad figurine carving is just 2.5 inches long by 2.3 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
Labradorite has an background color of dark gray, but it displays a beautiful iridescence, giving off rainbow-colored reflections known as labradorescence when light hits it in certain directions - this is quite stunning and it is one of those stones that initially can appear a bit uninteresting until it is turned this way or that.
Labradorite is a feldspar and Labradorite shows the iridescent display of colors due to minute inclusions of another mineral.
It is named after Labrador, Canada, although this piece, and a lot of gem grade material, comes from Madagascar.
Metaphysical Properties of Labradorite: Labradorite is thought by some to symbolize the moon and the sun, and in fact has been found to be an ingredient of moon rock. It is said to assist the wearer to handle changes, promoting strength and perseverance.
The Jin Chan (or Golden Toad), is most commonly translated as "Money Toad" or "Money Frog". It represents a feng shui charm that brings prosperity and wealth.
The Jin Chan is a legendary animal of the Han people and usually is depicted as a bullfrog with red eyes, flared nostrils and only one hind leg (for a total of three legs), sitting on a pile of traditional Chinese cash, with a coin in its mouth. According to feng shui beliefs, Jin Chan helps attract and protect wealth, and guards against bad luck. Because it symbolizes the flow of money, feng shui lore insists that a Jin Chan statue should not be positioned facing the main door ("outward"). It also should never be kept in the bathroom, bedroom, dining room or kitchen.
