Product Description
Crazy Lace Agate Unpolished Rock Stone Slab
The high grade quality Crazy Lace Agate piece is slabbed, but not polished.
This lapidary stone slab for cabbing is 3.8 inches by 3.2 inches and 4 mm thick.
It weighs .14 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 3 pictures.
Crazy Lace Agate has browns, blacks, grays and occasional pinks or reds swirled together in complex patterns of bands, eyes, tubes and orbs. It is infused with iron and aluminum and has a pattern similar to lace, hence its name.
Crazy Lace Agate comes from various places, but this lovely material is from the Sierra Santa Lucia of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Mined since the 1950's, (the first commercial claim was filed in 1954), a huge amount of Crazy Lace Agate material has been consumed in the lapidary world. There are current active claims, as well as inactive claims that are worked sporadically. The locations are in rugged territories and difficult to reach. Also Crazy Lace Agate forms in veins and is encased in Limestone, making it difficult to recover.
