Product Description
Stone Canyon Jasper Stone Unpolished Rock
This Stone Canyon Jasper unpolished stone piece is 3.72 inches tall by 4.2 inches wide and 1.88 inches at its thickest on its base.
It weighs 1.32 lbs. and is not really rough-it is sawed to stand up for display and tumbled, but is not polished. It is pretty as it is, could be polished, or could be recut into cabochons!
It is shown wet in the first 6 pictures.
Stone Canyon Jasper is a brecciated jasper found near Parkfield, in the central coastal region of California.
Stone Canyon Jasper is found near the San Andreas Fault and the stone is called “brecciated” as it is a rock composed of broken fragments of preexisting minerals that were pulverized by tectonic activity and then later naturally cemented back together via a finer grain matrix.
This jasper is somewhat rare as most of it sources are on privately held lands and closed to collecting.
It is from the Kirkby collection and was self-collected sometime in the 1930's to the 1960's.
