Youngite Stone Slab Rough Rock Fluorescent Wyoming
This natural rough stone of Youngite is 6.25 inches by 3.6 inches and 4 mm thick.
It weighs .20 lbs. and shown wet in the first picture, it is coated on one side with a resin for stability.
Beautiful and rare Youngite from Guernsey, Platte County, Wyoming.
Youngite is a brecciated reddish-brown to peach jasper that was then re-healed by deposition of cream-colored chalcedony. Often some of or the entire rock is then covered by druse quartz crystals. It was found in caves and voids near Guernsey, but the Youngite caves are located on private property, and have been off-limits to collectors for years.
Youngite is also highly fluorescent under shortwave Ultra Violet (SWUV) lighting. It glows a bright neon green color. The fluorescent response of Youngite is highly variable, with some specimens showing spectacular fluorescence, and others being only dimly fluorescent.
