This beautiful Chrysanthemum Stone not quite perfect round plate is about 5.2 inches in diameter and .66 of an inch thick.
It is slabbed flat on one side and slightly convex on the other. It has a natural matte finish.
This is a natural stone displaying flower or chrysanthemum-like patterns in a black limestone matrix.
Many currently on the market are painted at least partially-mine are not. They are natural and simply ground down to display the pattern.
From Yonghe in Liuyang County of Hunan Province, China, this rock consists of celestine, calcite, andalusite or feldspar.
Chrysanthemum Stone formed due to geological changes that occurred 248-290 million years ago in the Permian Age of the Paleozoic Period.
