Petrified Wood Rough Limb Little Humboldt River Nevada
This is a cool shaped Petrified Wood limb that is sliced at an angle on one end but unpolished rough chunk.
The Petrified Wood piece is 3.27 inches long by 2.58 inches wide by 4.72 inches long and weighs 2 lbs.
This Petrified Wood limb is 2.1 inches by 1.9 inches and 5.6 inches long. The face is 2.45 inches by 1.9 inches and it weighs .8 of a pound.
This piece did not petrify well-it is very soft and I'm not sure if it would take a good polish.
Little Humboldt River is an offshoot of the Humboldt River and it runs abut 70 miles in Humboldt County in northwest Nevada.
The petrified wood found there dates back to the late Triassic period, approximately 200 million years ago.
This piece was from an old collection and was self collected sometime in the 40's to the 60's.
