Red Banded Moss Agate Unpolished Stone Slab Cady Mountains
This lovely red and yellow Moss Agate with some fortification banding unpolished stone slab is 2.9 inches by 2.9 inches and 5 mm thick.
It weighs .12 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 5 pictures.
This agate slab is from the Kirkby collection and was self-collected sometime in the 1930's to the 1960's.
The Cady Mountains are one of the most prolific collecting areas in Southern California. Known for its wide variety of lapidary material, this area produces some of the best agate and jaspers in the world including tube agate, moss agate, plume agate, sagenite agate and fortification or banded agates. The brilliant dark red and orange plume or moss patterns are very striking!
